Let Your Children Discover and Create Art
“Calling all crafty kids! Bring your parents and grandparents and get ready to have some fun at our Children’s Creative Village!
The Children's Creative Village (not to be confused with our Student Art Tent) will be a hands-on, kid-centric, interactive area at the festival. We will be offering a variety of fun, hands-on, FREE art experiences for kids and working hard to foster connections between local families and nearby arts-related organizations. A sign-up sheet will be provided for up to 15 kids at one time. Each craft will take approximately 20- 30 minutes to complete. There will be a break in between craft events for clean-up and resetting before the next time slot begins. THE FOLLOWING CRAFT EXPERIENCES WILL BE OFFERED:
1. Help “Grow” our Community Rock Gardens
Inspired by the wonderful kindness rock gardens around our community, we will provide a smooth, paintable rock, acrylic paints, paint brushes of different sizes and instructions on how to make your own beautiful and unique painted rock. Maybe you will donate your painted rock to a kindness rock garden in our community, maybe you will gift your rock to a special friend, or perhaps you will keep it to remember a wonderful day at the Lake Mary Heathrow Festival of the Arts. Perhaps you will be inspired to start a Kindness Rock Garden of your own!
2. Card Making
This craft is a great one for all ages and designed with parent and grandparent participation in mind. Learn the craft of beautiful handmade cards that you can create for any occasion. We will provide card stock, appliques and precut decorations so that children, teens and adults of all ages can enjoy the art of card making. After your handmade card is complete, we will have delivery boxes if you would like to donate your card to a resident at an Assisted living Community or a member of our US Military to help brighten their day.
3. Journey through the Clay Arts
See and feel the different stages and phases of art clay! Our hands on clay exhibit will give you a new understanding of all of the possibilities of working with clay. You will also have the opportunity to make some clay art of your very own. We will give you some pointers on how to achieve the best results when working with clay.
